Welcome to the Blackwood River Chamber Festival 2018.  Once again we promise you a delightful combination of music, food, wine and wonderful people in the heart of the South West. The beautiful shed at Dalmore Farm with its warm and lively acoustics will house three concerts and two delicious lunches over the 28th and 29th of April. On Saturday night we’ll relocate to The Cidery for a relaxed evening of food, beverages and more music.

Festival Ticket is $335.00, and this includes two concerts on Saturday, one on Sunday, lunches and Sunday morning tea.  There are only 100 places available at The Cidery on Saturday evening, so please book early if you would like to attend this event.  Tickets for single concerts may also be availble closer to the Festival.

Since the last BRCF, Sally and I have collaborated with many marvellous chamber musicians and it is with pleasure that we introduce some of them to our Festival. Soprano Katja Webb and pianist Gladys Chua will charm and enthrall you on Saturday morning with works by Ravel, Vaughan Williams and Schubert. For the Saturday afternoon concert we are delighted to present the Magellan ensemble. Faith Maydwell, Sacha McCulloch and Paul Wright will perform Paul Schoenfeld’s irresistibly caffeine fuelled piano trio, Café Music, as well as spirited music by
Spanish composers Joaquín Turina and Enrique Fernández Arbós.

The string musicians of the last Festival enjoyed working together so much that they formed the Darlington Quartet and now perform regularly. To conclude the festival, they will play Beethoven’s monumental String Quartet Op. 132. They will also give you some players’ insights into the work in an open rehearsal and discussion on Saturday.

The pre-festival concert will take place at Dalmore Farm at 7.30pm on Friday 27th April, and will feature a selection of music from the main festival. This is intended mainly for town and district but festival goers are also welcome to attend, paying separately at the door.

We hope you will join us for what promises to be another fantastic weekend of chamber music.
