Some of the best areas to see wildflowers in our area are the Winnejup Reserve, Hester Forest, Greenbushes, and Maslin Reserve.  Come into the Visitor Centre in Bridgetown and pick up a free copy of our Walk Trails booklet which has maps of the Hester Forest and Greenbushes walks trails or pick up your free copy of the Wildflower Holiday Guide.

These wildflowers can usually be seen from the road - Hovea, Honeybush, Hibertia (buttercups), Hardenbergia (native wisteria), Heath (both white & pink), Holly Flame Pea, Coral Creeper and Clematis.

You will have noticed a bush with white flowers all along the stems, this is Tagasaste (tree lucerne) and is not a native plant.  The other plants considered a pest are bridal creeper, lavender, watsonia and freesia.

PLEASE TAKE EXTRA CARE AS THE WEATHER WARMS UP AS SNAKES WILL BE EMERGING FROM THEIR HIBERNATION.  YOU SHOULD WEAR CLOSED IN SHOES IF YOU ARE WALKING IN THE BUSH

The following wildflowers were sighted last spring:

BROCKMAN HIGHWAY - Hardenbergia (native wisteria), hovea, wattles, beard heath, yellow flags, karri hazel and hakea 

MASLIN RESERVE (Peninsula Rd, park your car on the side of the road just before the Maslin Reserve sign and walk into the bush area)  hardenbergia, clematis, donkey orchids, hibertia, cotton heads, yellow buttons, banjine, purple tassel, beard heath, red ink sundew, lechenaultia, dampiera, telratheca (small pink bell shaped flower). Drive along Peninsula Road to Maslin Street  for a magnificant display of coral creeper (left hand side). Take care when walking in this reserve as there is a lot of broken glass in some areas (it was a former rubbish dump).
